Hotels in Antalya, Turkey: areas, all-inclusive and when to go

Choosing an area

• Lara Beach and Kundu. A resort strip east of the city, close to the airport, with many large hotels.
• Kaleici. The old town around the harbour, with small boutique hotels. The beaches are a short ride away.
• Konyaalti. A pebble beach west of the centre, with hotels along the seafront.
• Belek. Golf and large resorts east of Antalya, roughly a 30 to 40 minute drive from the airport.
• Kemer. Pine-covered mountains and marinas, around an hour west of the airport.
• Side. An ancient town by the beach, around an hour east, with a quieter feel.

All-inclusive in Turkey

Many hotels on this coast sell all-inclusive. What it covers differs from hotel to hotel, and hotels use names such as all-inclusive, premium and ultra all-inclusive. Ask which drinks are included, and whether they are local or imported, which snacks and restaurants are included, and what costs extra, such as the spa, some restaurants and water sports.

When to go

The main beach season runs from around May to October. July and August are very hot and busy, and prices are usually highest. May, June, September and October are often more comfortable. Winter is mild but too cool for most beach holidays.

Getting there

Flights from the UK take about four hours to Antalya airport. Check the entry requirements for your passport before you travel. Ask how long the transfer to your hotel takes, because it can range from under half an hour to more than an hour.

• sunbeds, towels and beach facilities, which some hotels charge for
• excursions, which are usually booked and paid for separately

Things to do nearby

Antalya's old town, Kaleici, is worth a wander for its harbour and narrow streets. Inland, the Duden waterfalls and the Roman theatre at Aspendos are popular day trips. Boat trips run from the harbour and from several resort towns. Most excursions are booked locally or through your hotel, and are usually paid for separately, so ask what you will need to budget for.

A quick way to choose

• Big resorts and all-inclusive: Lara Beach, Belek or Kemer.
• Character and a walkable old town: Kaleici.
• Golf: Belek.
• History and a quieter beach: Side.
